This quote by Hippocrates can be translated in the modern day as “use it or lose it”
An unfortunate fact of aging can be loss of healthy muscle tissue, bone density and a decline in fitness. I say “can be” because this does not have to be the case. By doing the correct exercise, eating healthily and avoiding injury, you can regain lost fitness, increase strength and maintain bone density.
For health related exercise the old saying, “no pain, no gain”, is a myth, you do not have to suffer to become fitter and stronger.
“Even if you have not maintained activity throughout your life, but come into it when you are older, the benefits from training can be extraordinary”. (Dr Mike Stroud, 2004)
I am based in Guiseley near Leeds and work with clients in central and north Leeds as well as outlying areas such as Otley, Menston and Ilkley.
